SLE places a high priority on the Chandler Chamber Ostrich Festival.

According to her, “taking that over in 2015 and watching it grow to what it is now has just been so rewarding and so awesome”

“Steve and I made the decision to concentrate on family-friendly events that we could attend with our children. People who have kids, like us, want to do something cool and fun and enjoy it from an adult perspective with food, drinks, and music. The Ostrich Festival has been a highlight, but Scottsdale Fashion Week is always fun as well.

After the pandemic, SLE relaunched the Chandler Chamber Ostrich Festival in 2022 with enhanced entertainment and attractions and established a special Chandler Community Day to honor community youth and give back to residents. In addition, the festival was extended to seven days over two weekends from three days. She says, “He was booking DJs and doing promotions for bars and nightclubs for a long time.” He started booking speakers and bands as he got older. It’s been a lot of fun to watch this business move from booking DJs and working in the EDM (electronic dance music) space to really concentrating on big concerts and big names over the years.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented entertainment and event venues from operating for more than two years, the business suffered a setback.

According to her, “we really had to reevaluate a lot of things,” including “how we do our business,” “who we do business with,” and “where we want to put our energy and focus.”

We took a lot of time off to rethink our business and our business model. It humbled me and opened my eyes.

She says that they had layoffs and hired “an amazing new team of people” who were passionate when the pandemic subsided.

SLE’s busy summer is over, and in September, the company will start hosting events again, starting with Scottsdale Fashion Week. It was moved to fall to avoid competing with other major events.

“The community has really rallied around them—and us—at our feel-good events.”
