Araucanía Looks in the Mirror
The 2025 Electoral Barometer shows a society questioning itself. More than 80% of residents express concern about security, not only as a political issue but as a daily experience that shapes the way they live and relate to others.
At the same time, the survey reveals that the population does not limit itself to demanding control: 25% call for a guaranteed basic income and 23% demand an end to waiting lists in healthcare, reminding us that collective well-being is just as important as order.

A Gap That Is Also Cultural
The assessment of government management highlights the distance between the center and the periphery:
- 62.4% believe Chile is on the wrong track.
- Only 24.2% approve of President Gabriel Boric in the region.
This discontent is not only political but also cultural. It reflects the historical sense of neglect and the need for the State to approach these territories with respect, recognition, and genuine presence.
Leadership Measured Through Identity
In the presidential race, José Antonio Kast leads with 31% of voting intention, followed by Jeannette Jara (21%) and Evelyn Matthei (13%). Beyond the names, one certainty emerges: the narrative of security dominates, but people also demand dignity, closeness, and memory.
In the senatorial contest, results reflect both continuity and transformation:
- Miguel Becker (RN, 12.6%) and Jorge Luchsinger (Ind-UDI, 9.7%) lead on the right, with a firm message of order.
- Rodolfo Carter (Independent, 8.2%) breaks through as a pragmatic, independent figure.
- Francisco Huenchumilla (PDC, 7.5%) and Eugenio Tuma (PL, 7.1%), long-standing representatives, survive thanks to their cultural and community roots, though burdened by the wear of time.
The Voice of Indigenous Peoples and the Memory of the Land
The report reminds us that to speak of Araucanía is also to speak of the Mapuche people and their ancestral worldview. The survey reflects a territory where demands for security coexist with claims for cultural recognition and belonging.
The Mapuche voice, carried through generations, cannot be reduced to numbers: it demands to be heard as a fundamental part of Chile’s future. The study confirms that there will be neither peace nor lasting governance without an honest dialogue between memory and institutions, between tradition and modernity.
A Signal That Crosses Borders
The Araucanía Electoral Barometer 2025 is not just a local mirror: it is a message for the country and the world. In this region, marked by cultural richness and diverse identities, an essential chapter of Chile’s present and future is unfolding.
The study reveals that:
- Fear and hope coexist. Security is a priority, but social and cultural demands remain alive.
- Traditional politics is changing. New leaderships emerge from frustration but also from the need for answers.
- Cultural recognition is unavoidable. Araucanía teaches that development will only be possible if it integrates the memory and rights of Indigenous peoples.
Institutional Statement
“This Barometer is not just a survey: it is the voice of a region that holds the living memory of Chile. Listening with respect and purpose is the first step towards building a shared future,” said Dialogue.cl – Citizen and Political Observatory.
